OnePlus will be releasing their first mid-range phone, OnePlus Nord. OnePlus released its first look in their tweet. It will be their first phone under $500 after OnePlus 5. With ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it will be officially launched through an AR launch on Amazon on the 21st of July. Some of the specs were already out through various leaks.
Display and Design
OnePlus Nord will feature a 6.55″ Fluid AMOLED display with 90hz refresh rate. The display will boast in-display fingerprint. There will be no IP-rating for this model but it will be splash resistant. The back will have a glossy finish with quad-camera strip. It will be having curved edges which resembles their other flagship-level smartphones.
The primary back camera will be a 48MP Sony IMX586 image sensor. Furthermore, the device will also have an 8MP ultrawide, a 5MP depth sensor and a macro lens. On the front, it will have a dual punch-hole selfie camera setup with a 32MP selfie camera and an 8MP wide-angle lens.
CPU and GPU
OnePlus Nord will have Snapdragon™ 765G SOC with Adreno™ 620 GPU. It will also support 5G for fast data transfer. It may come in three variants starting with 6GB/128GB and may go up to 12GB/256GB. There will be no headphone jack in it as they will be releasing their OnePlus Buds with it. The phone will have 4,300mAh battery with 30W Dash charging.
In India, OnePlus 7T costs ₹ 34,999. Being a price-sensitive market, if they can price it around ₹ 27,000 then, it will be a value for money.
OnePlus Nord will have fierce competition from Redmi K20 Pro, Realme X2 Pro and Realme X3. As these smartphones have Snapdragon 855 and 855+ processors which are more powerful than 765G. Therefore, Realme X3 will be its direct competitor because it has a better refresh rate of 120Hz and has a 64MP primary camera with 20X Hybrid Zoom.
But OnePlus might have an edge over these smartphones with their bloatware-free Oxygen OS. The success of this phone will mainly depend upon their loyal fan-base which they have been building since their first phone, OnePlus One. If they price it aggressively then only OnePlus Nord will be successful.
